What to Expect

A come as you are atmosphere:

The Lighthouse is a welcoming, casual and non-judgmental community of faith.  Everyone is welcome, no matter your life struggles or where you are in your spiritual journey.  We celebrate our diversity and that we are not your traditional church.  Check us out...you'll see what we mean!

Great fellowship and loving encouragement:

You will be greeted at the door and as you make your way through a sea of greetings and welcomes, grab a cup of coffee and something to eat.  You will find yourself with people just like you.  We believe God works through the fellowship and compassion of His people.  We seek to live that out...

A lively time of music and fellowship:

We love to sing songs of worship to our God.  If you are not sure what you believe, you can simply listen and think about what the words speak into your own life journey and what they say about God.  You will find people who love to express their faith with their hands and body while others stand still, and yet others simply must sit down.  You are welcome to just be yourself.

Relevant and practical teaching from the Bible:

We teach about Jesus and use the Bible as the source book for what God wants us to know about Himself.  If you do not believe in Jesus you will experience an honest and direct teaching about the joys and struggles of daily life that you can still use to develop your own spiritual journey.

The challenges of being a downtown church:

Don't let this discourage you!  We love our location.  We are right where we want to be and where God has put us!  That said, we do not own a parking spot.  There is a lot of on street parking within two blocks of the Lighthouse.  We seek to leave the closer spots for visitors and those who need them.  We are not handicapped accessible (sorry, our building is over 100 years old, but we will accept large donations to remedy the situation :) )  We are not air conditioned, which is no problem much of the year in Fargo, but in the summer it is!  People generally dress very casually at the Lighthouse and in the summer even our pastor wears shorts!
